It depends on how it's presented. I never have a problem with a contrary opinion. But I'm far more likely to accept that opinion if it's presented in a tactful way. I don't respond to smugness or hostility, no matter how much validity there is to what is being said.

When Your Beliefs Are Challenged, How Do You React?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; color: #0000cc; } .style2 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style3 {font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: italic; } .style4 {color: #000000} --> when your beliefs are challenged, how do you react?when individuals question or challenge you about your beliefs, how do you react?
as a jehovahs witness, many individuals became touchy when questions directed .
toward the watchtower society did not fit the popular conception, thought or ideal.

I stopped believing it was the truth long before I discovered this website. There were too many things about them, and the bible in general that just didn't make sense. But I was always able to go through the motions of being a JW, even after I stopped believing. But after learning about the UN, 607, the child molestation issue, and other things on this website, I decided I could no longer be a part of it in any way. The internet has served as validation more than anything else. It has allowed me to walk away without any regrets.

Do you have all the friends you want to have?
by JH ini'm not talking about internet friends, but friends close by in your town.. so, do you have as many friends as you would like to have?.
when i was young and going to school, i had a few friends, but now i don't have any friends, but on the other hand, i'm a loner and i don't really care.
i'm not really searching for friends.

Most of the friends I have are people that I work with. Most of them I would probably not remain in contact with if I ever left my job. They're just people to go out to the bar with after work. My best friend lives not too far from here, and he's someone I can talk to about anything, even my experiences as a JW. He used to be friendly with them when they would knock at his door, but no longer. But he has a wife and a family of his own, and can't hang out as often as I'd like. I guess I'm a bit of a loner too.

What kinds of sport are you into?
by zagor init just occurred to me that just about every single sport im interested in, is one-man-band whether you talk about martial arts, archery, golf or any other ie.none of them are team sports.
it just looks as if i best operate alone (or could it be i just find it awkward being in team i don't really know) .
heck, the most sports i did where other side wasnt an opponent were few dances such as salsa and recently tango.

I spent Friday at work. We had a mind-numbing meeting which consisted of telling us our profits for the last quarter and all the exciting new ventures the company had coming up. I would still rather have that day than yours.

The sacrifice of Christ to redeem humankind, Why?
by VM44 inthe perfect man and woman, soon after being created, failed short of god's requirements and so sin was introduced into the world.
according to the watchtower, god's law required a "life for a life" and so a perfect human needed to be sacrificed, i.e., killed, in order for humanity to be redeemed.. my simple question concerning this doctrine is....why?.
how does the death of a human, perfect or otherwise, help matters?

It's using one myth to validate another. It's a way of tying a bunch of otherwise unrelated stories together.
